Having reliable access to the internet is a must for anyone who works in the press box at Road Ranger Stadium – me, other broadcasters, our local media and press-box staff. The internet in the press box had long been prone to slowdowns and sometimes a complete collapse. Our broadcast relies heavily on new media, so when I can’t access scores or listener email, my job becomes immeasurably more difficult.

I met Robert and Mike at a Forward Janesville event and was impressed by not merely their knowledge and enthusiasm, but by the fact that they can translate the tech jargon into English for the layman without dumbing it down. They clearly articulated what they proposed, in terms of equipment, operation, bandwidth capability and results.

Small Business Technology Solutions proposed not just a significant upgrade in the quality of our press box wireless access, but full wireless access throughout the stadium – for media, players and fans – something that our ownership had billed as a feature of the new stadium prior to its construction, but something we had yet to deliver on. Our stadium seats more than 3,000 people, and from the entry to the most distant point on the stadium grounds is around 500 feet, so this was no small feat. Robert and Mike toured the entire stadium to lay out the logistics of the task.

Professional athletes are notoriously prone to complain about the slightest thing. Our players, who to a man bring laptops or iPods to the clubhouse, were happy about the ability to check scores, surf the web or download music at their lockers. Our tech-savvy fans had a new element to take advantage of when in the stadium. From my perspective, our partnership with Mike and Robert has been an unqualified success.

As with many small businesses today our computer system was crucial to the working of our business, however, like so many other businesses we were constantly trying to find ways to keep our bottom line down and maintenance of our computer systems was low on the priority list. 

When we had systems problems we would contact friends or family who might know how to fix the problem.  Our Web site needed updating so we found another individual who would do it and teach us how to update.  This patch work maintenance finally got almost impossible to keep track of who did what or was in charge of what. 

When we decided to get professional help, someone mentioned Small Business Technology Solutions.  I can’t believe the difference.  Their rates are reasonable, the service is great, I call and they are at the office within a couple of hours.  They are diligent, if there is a problem that takes some time or is not easy to fix they will stay on it until complete.

Our set up and switch over did not go smoothly, there were glitches around every corner, But Mike stayed with me and walked me though every step.  He was in the office or called every day to see how things were going.  My bill was not astronomical; they stayed within the original quote.
